"Mothmants live in a nest called a Monest. 'Mothmants and Monest. Both are native to Ragol. When Mothmants are killed, more will appear from the Monest.' Hmm... It seems like it's a good idea to destroy the Monest first."
— Elly and Calus in VR Temple Alpha

Monest is a native creature of the Forest. These creatures are also used as part of the ecosystem within the VR Temple.

In the Ultimate difficulty, Monest is replaced by Mothvist.

General Data[]

Characteristics[]

The Monest is an organic hive that acts as both a spawning source and a home for the Mothmants, both of which are native to the Forest area. Immobile and stationary on its own, its swarm of Mothmants need to carry it in order to travel to different locations. The base has a bag-looking structure, the top being where Mothmants enter and leave the Monest, with a fleshy purple skin texture; the "legs" it has to support and balance its base seem to be of vegetal composition. The color of the base is shared with the body color of the Mothmants, possibly meaning that a Monest's color could indicate what species of Mothmant it carries.

Activity patterns[]

Monests are helpless creatures by themselves. They have no method of attacking the player besides their constant spawning of Mothmant drones, which makes downing them rather simple. Merely attack with your strongest weapon, ranged or melee, or use fire element attacks, such as Rafoie, in order to wipe out the drones and the hive altogether. In the off-chance that the party is underlevelled, it is recommended that you focus attacks on the Monest first and then pick off the Mothmants one by one with ranged attacks.
