Puyo (Japanese: プヨ) is a rare mag in Phantasy Star Online that was only obtainable starting with the Episode IV: Blue Burst expansion and thus not available in prior versions. It was originally released as a contest prize on the Japanese servers in 2006, however, the official servers are currently no longer accessible.

Puyo is a special fourth evolution mag. In order to obtain it, Amitie's Memo must be used as an item while a Chu Chu mag is currently equipped. The Photon Blast that the former Chu Chu held will be inherited as it evolves into Puyo.

This mag can be equipped by all classes and races. While Puyo is equipped, the mag may cast buffs upon satisfying certain conditions with a trigger activation rate of 50%. Upon either reaching 100% Photon Blast gauge or having health drop to 1/10, the mag will cast both Shifta and Deband on its master. If its master dies, Puyo may attempt to revive them. Finally, Puyo may grant its wielder temporary invulnerability upon entering a boss room.

Appearance[]

Puyo is a gelatinous blob of color with very large, round, all-seeing eyes. The color of the Puyo will be the same as the mag's original color.

Trivia[]

  • Puyo is a cameo of the very same blob mascots of the Puyo Puyo series. Originally published by Compile, the series was later inherited into the Sega family of video games when the rights to the series were sold to Sega during Compile's restructuring in 1998.
