Elemental resistance is a recurring statistic in the Phantasy Star series. Elemental Resistance is a character's measures of resilience against elemental attacks, namely techniques.

Elemental resistances are boosted by wearing armor, shields, certain weapons (such as Glide Divine), and units that boost elemental resistance.
The resistances are:
- EFR: Lowers damage taken from fire techniques, such as Foie.
- EIC: Lowers damage taken from ice techniques, such as Gibarta.
- ETH: Lowers damage taken from lightning techniques, such as Zonde.
- EDK: Reduces Megid's chance of success.
- ELT: Lowers damage taken from Grants.

Elemental resistance reduces the damage taken from attacks of a certain attribute. Attacks that are of the Technique Type are considered to be 100% elemental damage, and will thus have their damage directly reduced by boosting the relevant elemental resistance stat. Striking and Ranged Type attacks imbued with an element will only have part of their damage reduced by boosting the relevant elemental resistance stat.
Elemental resistance can be raised by equipping certain Units with Hidden Stats that raise the stat, or otherwise by equipping any gear with a Resist Ability affixed onto it.
Resist Abilities include:
- Flame Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from Fire Element attacks.
- Ice Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from Ice Element attacks.
- Shock Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from Lightning Element attacks.
- Wind Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from Wind Element attacks.
- Light Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from Light Element attacks.
- Gloom Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from Dark Element attacks.
- All Resist X: Lowers the damage taken from all elements and attacks.
