"Dark Falz was the cause of a near extinction-level catastrophe over all of Halpha one hundred years ago, too. Apparently, it was able to easily wipe out the capital city of the time. If the DOLLS unit you encountered really is Dark Falz, then that means... There's absolutely no time to lose. We have to start preparing our forces as soon as possible."
— Crawford theorizing the potential culprit behind the Aelio Town massacre.

Crawford (Japanese: クロフォード) is a major character in Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. As both the leader of Central City and ARKS across the planet Halpha, Crawford utilizes his strong leadership abilities and cordial personality to guide his people in the seemingly never-ending battle against the DOLLS units and their leader, Dark Falz.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Crawford has a fair complexion and pointed ears. He has short lavender blue hair with green streaks that falls just above his shoulders, and a small cowlick at the top of his head. His eyes are dark navy blue. Underneath his right eye is a small beauty mark.

Crawford's grandiose wardrobe exudes a sense of authority. He wears a primarily white suit with black, navy blue, and gold accents, and has matching gloves and boots. His leggings are black with gold trim. Adorned around his shoulders is a large cape, the top of which is styled to resemble blue grating. Adorned on his chest piece is a gold star. The back of his cape has a similar star and a large icon that resembles the one printed on the doorway leading to his command room.

Personality[]

Crawford is a soft-spoken man that is easily approachable. He has a deep sense of empathy for people of all regions whether they reside within Central City or beyond, and he will often ask that people not push themselves even if the situation may call for a sense of urgency.

Despite his docile exterior, Crawford is no pushover as he demonstrates a strong ability to lead his people under stressful circumstances. He has a sense of humor and thinks quite highly of himself, especially when it comes to his combat abilities, gift giving or interior decoration. When faced with an undesirable outcome, Crawford may exhibit brief disappointment or anger before picking himself up.

Other Appearances[]

Central![]

Crawford central ep6

Crawford makes several appearances in the online webcomic, Central! As the target of women's hearts all across the land, Crawford navigates their affections with grace all the while publicly demonstrating confidence in dealing with situations as they arise.

Crawford's debut appearance is in Episode 6: Central Leader. When a staff member delivers a list of general ideas to improve the tower, Crawford decides that now is the time to upgrade the already awesome Command Room. His initial thoughts are about reinforcing the design of a cool secret base of operations, but when he asks Operator Ran for her thoughts, she simply requests to tone down the lighting to make it less stressful on her eyes.

Crawford central ep9

In Episode 9: Handmade Lunch, the Command Room operators question Crawford over a gift he received from some girls in Central City. Upon closer inspection, it is revealed to be a lunchbox with food presumably cooked by the gift givers. When Oranje teases that celebrities often throw away the gifts they are given, Crawford insists that he would never and vows to eat his food with gratitude. Ran inspects the food and explains the various stat gains from such a meal, which Crawford muses that she would be focused on that aspect of the gift.

Crawford central ep10

In Episode 10: Crawford Fan Club, Ran tells her fellow Central operators about rabid Crawford fans that interrogated her earlier, and how they accused her of using her position to get closer to Crawford. Seeing the potential ruckus such a group could cause, Rossa asks Crawford to personally deliver a notice to quell overeager groups from ushering chaos. Crawford giggles at the prospect of him having his own fan club and whimsically agrees to make such an announcement, much to the chagrin of the operators who note he seems unconcerned by the potential repercussions of such fans.

Crawford central ep16

Episode 16 features the story Holy Night For Everyone. The Central operators meet up with Manon and Aina and plan to throw a Christmas party together. Hovering in the background is an overly eager Dozer listening in on their festive plans. He rushes over to Crawford's room wanting in on the action only to find Crawford in his sleepwear and nestled comfortably in a kotatsu. Crawford offers his right hand man some cake, musing over the passage of time and blissfully ignorant of Dozer's intentions.

Crawford central ep19

Crawford notices an argument break out between the melee and ranged instructors in Episode 19: The Training Program. He offers the suggestion to allow new recruits to use subclasses and multi-weapons so they can experience the best of both worlds. Satisfied with such a novel idea, the instructors continue their argument over whose class should then be the main one for newbies to start with.

Crawford central ep21

Basking in his popularity in Episode 21: The Chocolate Inspector, Crawford stands among a crowd of girls gushing over him during Valentine's Day. The Crawford Fan Club enforcers stew over one lady gifting the Central Leader a particularly lavish heart-shaped chocolate box.

Crawford central ep25

In Episode 25: Crawford's White Day, Crawford announces to his Command Room operators that he will prepare gifts that are equally as magnificent as the ones he received for Valentine's Day, since he has made it his mission to reciprocate every year. Although past years he has given out simple snacks, Crawford boasts this year he will give everyone a pompom headpiece accessory instead. He then brags to himself about coming up with such a great idea, while the operators wonder how he will manage to secure an out of print item for so many girls.

Crawford central ep26

With the announcement of the defeat of Renus Retem in Episode 26: Dozer's Intuition, Crawford welcomes Dozer back and praises the man for his tact. To be so selfless as to keep the DOLLS at bay while the main force tackles the objective, Crawford asks Dozer if those were his thoughts during the heat of the moment. Dozer deadpans that that was not the case at all; rather, he simply read the room.

Crawford central ep27

Continuing from the previous events, Crawford sends his operators off to greet the crew in Retem in Episode 27: Scorching Retem, since Central will be actively cooperating with them from now on. Although Liu Lin objects, Crawford assures her that the trip will be brief and he will send ARKS defenders to escort them during their journey. As they begin to head out, Crawford happily waves farewell and tells them to bring back a souvenir when they return.

Later in Episode 30: The Souvenir, the Central operators were so focused on meeting Nadereh and her crew that they completely forgot about Crawford's request for a souvenir. Seeing no other option, the operators begin to stuff as much Retem sand in their bags as possible while Nadereh watches their antics in confusion in the distance.

Crawford central ep32

In Episode 32: Dozer's Transfer Request, Dozer asks Crawford if he could swap positions with the new training instructors. Crawford denies his request, explaining that there are certain aspects of Dozer's job that only he can be entrusted with along with having already evaluated and placed said instructors for their own abilities. Dozer accepts Crawford's explanation. When the operators question Dozer over such a strange request, Dozer explains that he wants a job that issues tasks regularly so he can meet and communicate with the Meteorn more frequently. Thinking about it, Dozer then silently considers the possibility of being an operator to which Rossa immediately senses and shoots down.

Crawford central ep40

Some time passes until Crawford's inevitable return in Episode 40: Defeat Dark Falz or Never Leave This Room. Although Crawford had planned to destroy Dark Falz once and for all in one opportune moment by harnessing the destructive power of Cental Cannon against it, the creature managed to slip away despite ARKS' best efforts. Crawford can be seen mumbling to himself in the background, irritated that the mission was a failure despite having successfully fought off the demonic entity with minimal damage to the city. Crawford eventually comes to and vocally surmises that, due to the danger involved in such an operation, only the most skilled ARKS operatives can be sent into the front lines in such an operation going forward on the off chance that they may get swept away just as was done to the Meteorn. Dozer imagines himself joining the Meteorn in battle and defeating Dark Falz, and then loudly offers to volunteer himself to face Dark Falz next time. Crawford, thrilled at his friend's dependability, is rendered speechless.
